Zvezda 1:72 Macedonian Phalangites
#1
The above mentioned set is now out in Europe and is a wonderful addition to the 1:72 scale lines of ancient plastic figures. Molding and authenticity is great, with seperate shields and arms to achieve realistic postions. They are molded in a flesh colored plastic like the Mecedonian cavalry, with seperate sarissa. The greatest disappointment is that the commander figure is a Carthagenian officer, and one of the pikemen is an Italian ally warrior, both taken from the molds of the projected 'Carthagenian Army' set which they have decided not to use. There are also no 'reserve' pikemen with their sarissa straight up, which in reality would be the most common posiiton for the majority of troops in a phalanx. Combine with the new Hat releases, the age of Alexander is now one of the best represented in 1:72 plastic ancients.<br>
