And yes indeed, Wolin is fantastic (althought I haven't been there yet). Last year there were more than 1000 participants from the Skandinavian and Baltic countries, from Poland, Russia, Ukraine and there were some 70 Hungarians too.

In the future I will collect a viking kit just for this event as well, however THAT battle is quite dangerous: SCA-like full combat with steel weapons (lightened and dulled).

I am going to Wolin each year as well ...
Last year was about 1400 participants in fact, from ..... 22 countries !
Its the biggest viking event in Europe.



And yes you are right about the battle. Eastern style rulezzz . You can hit your opponent with metal sword as strong as you want in any part of body (head as well). So people use thick padded gambesons and strong helmets etc.
You have to see it .. to believe ..

I think we're going offtopic, but never mind. I know personally some people who were there last year and the year before and they told me tales, so I believe me, I believe you!

Thanks to the talents of Pete and Jim, I have to agree! We have some on our website, but the ones on this thread are all very new, and are a 'work-in-progress'.
