Looking for about 50 entries on Late Roman equipment
#1
I received this request:

Quote:Dear Robert Vermaat,
I am the series editor of the annual Late Antique Archaeology and I am currently compiling a bibliographic essay on late Roman and early medieval technology.
I am keen to include material on the military of course, as this field saw major innovations in this period, though as yet we have little on it in our bibiliography.
I saw your page on plumbatae and wondered if you might be prepared to help us. We are looking to identify the main syntheses and most important articles (but not every specialised study) on military technology in this period. We are looking for about 50 max entries on the military, covering such areas as the late antique weapon / armour / equipment - eg scale, mail, plumbatae, lances, the saex, the francisca, spatha, the spangenhelm, Vegetius etc., especially key articles referring to wider literature. You could either ask people to reply or email or you could forward me a summary perhaps. Any help at all on this isssue would be most appreciated.
Yours sincerely
Luke Lavan

I have sent him the material on plumbatae, but with his permission I would like to forward this request to RAT.
Any replies could be entered here (which would be nice to read for us members) and/or sent to Luke Lavan directly ( [email protected] ).
