new forum, where this thread is being moved to.

Ave Jasper,

congratulation! I'm again very impressed by RAT. While writing some lines and clicking the 'send' button I found my text surprisingly in a new forum, that you have already created in the meantime Big Grin

If there will be a 'lightning bolt of light-speed editing award' some day, I'll vote for you

Quote:Ave omnes,

there’s a another title ‚Antike Helme’ published by the 'Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum' (RGZM), Mainz, Germany in 1988. It features ancient helmets of different nations of the Lipperheide Collection and the Antikenmuseum Berlin. (For example Greek, Illyrian, Corinthian, Apulian, Italic, Celtic, Roman)

The complete title of that 560 pages volume is:

Antike Helme. Handbuch mit Katalog. Sammlung Lipperheide und andere Bestände des Antikenmuseums Berlin
von Angelo Bottini, Markus Egg, Friedrich W von Hase, Herrmann Pflug, Peter Schauer, Götz Waurick, Wolf D Heilmeyer (Vorwort), Ulrich Schaaff (Vorwort),

Yes, that's the one I know of. I spent an afternoon wasting time with it. It's a monster. It's very thorough though. If it's not plenary it sure is exhaustive.

Well, it's a pretty pull-out  And perhaps you forgot it is 77 euros, not pounds. Still very expensive, but less so.
Greets!

If you get it straight from the publisher, the RGZM, it's 77 euros (+p&p, probably not inconsiderable, but still...): http://web.rgzm.de

mr Andela, german reenactor and working as "Frisius fecit" making replica roman stuff, has collected a lot of data on less known roman helmets, mainly from eastern europe. he also checks auctions for helmets that disappear in private collections, may be worth contacting him for this project
