the first book must have been released shortly after the battle of Hastings, which was in 1066 AD. :wink:

To be serious, IIRC I have two German-based books of Saxthorp from round about 1970. The first one edited started with color paintings of soldiers from the 17th century and ended in modern times. The second book came out somewhat later and included all the time before.

With these books my interest in uniforms and armor started .
