I'm in the process of making some drawings of the parts required to reconstruct a roman groma, but I'm missing a key detail. Does anyone know what the diameters were of the bronze bushings of the groma found at Pompeii?
Also, what are people's thoughts on Della Corte's reconstruction? If the ancient texts are to be believed then the groma would have to have a cantilever like beam for the cross or corniculi. How could one use a groma with the pole of the ferramentum in the way?
