Hamata Making
#1
I'm planning to start a reconstruction of a hamata, like this one
[url:2nnjaja2]http://www.gemina.nl/images/pics2002/DEBOOGSC.JPG[/url]

I'm going to do it all myself, so I'll start with making rings first, but now I'm looking for some information on the shirt shown above. Can someone give some advice on the pattern I should use.

I also like advice on what metal to use for the rings. I like the color of the above shown one, so I'm thinking about 1,5 -1,8 mm Brass and rings about an inner diameter of 8 mm.

Any information interesting for this project is hardly welcome!

8mm is a little large for the majority of Roman mail. 5-6mm would be closer. Erik Schmid is the man to ask about this subject.

OOPS, Rings diameter would be 6 mm instead of the 8 I wrote above. You're right.
