Age of Galley
#1
I wish to recommend this title. It is about galleys from early ancient ships to middle ages. The most interesting informations are about the Greek replica of the Athenian trireme. Highly technical, mostly on construction, not easy reading, but excellent source on rowing techniques. A MUST for everyone who needs detailed info on galleys. Numerous good drawings of rowers and their distribution.

Here is link to Amazon, if you wish to know more.

Or with a prettier url: J.Morisson (ed.), [amazon]The age of the galley[/amazon].
I second Martin's recommendation. An excellent collection of articles spanning a few thousand years of naval developments. Another good one is Morisson's, [amazon]The Athenian Trireme[/amazon], which focuses on the 'archetype' of the ancient warship.
Greets!
