Republican period junior officers!
#1
Salve!

I found from a local second-hand bookshop this:

"The Junior Officers Of The Roman Army In The Republican Period (A Study In Social Structure)" It is written by Jaakko Suolahti in 1955 and it is a doctoral thesis. It is a publication of "Annales Academiae Scientiarum Fennicae".

It has 439 pages, index, maps and so on.

The main chapters are:
-The Military Tribunes
-The II-VIRI navales
-The Prefects
-The Bodies Of The junior Officers, And The XXVI-virate

Anyone familiar with it?

Yes! It's very useful, but only if you're looking for real in-depth info à la Rangordnung.
Greets!

WOW!
Very interesting. I've often thought, it would be fantastic to have something similar to Rangordnung for the republican army. Thank you for your recommendation.

BTW: I have the original Rangordnung from 1908. Recently I came across the 2nd edition published by Dobson. Are there any changes and corrections in the 2nd edition, or is it just an unchanged reprint of the 1st one?
Greetings

No, it's not an exact reprint. The Dobson edition adds an extensive preface (pages & pages of it, number in Roman numerals) updating all sections of the original. The rest is the same as the original.
