The enemy is less likely to get wind of an advance of cavalry, if the orders for march were passed from mouth to mouth rather than announced by voice of herald, or public notice. Xenophon

I'm always a bit worried when people start to use the army as a parallel to management, and I have read quite a few books on Alexander as an example for managers. Without exception, I found that I had wasted my time.

If someone's interested in Alexander's logistics, Donald Engels' book Alexander the Great and the Logistics of the Macedonian Army (1978) is still the best, although it contains some strange errors.

Alexander was a very resourceful manager, he always kept important key workers after a take over....generally called Satraps....hehehe
