Herculiani Shield Device
#1
hi everybody, Commilito here.

I am asking for a detailed picture of the shield device of the Herculiani Seinores. I am making a shield for the late period, and one would be much appreciated. Thank you.
-thanks for reading.

It's the old shield of the Herculiani:

This is currently used by the Herculiani (now the iuniores):

Hi Sébastien,

Why blush? It looks great! Are you going for a (late) 3rd-c. impression?
Most items look very acceptable to very good.
I'm a bit in doubt about the belt, however, which is 4th c. From the timeframe it's hard to compare it with the 3rd. c. scabbard and baldric. Who made it?

Hi Valérius,

Yes, I'am going for a late 3th c-legionnary with Niederbieber too ! Like a little that Cohors V Gallorum...

This légionnary is the soldier (legio Ioviani) of the first middle of 4th-c, in my (raison ?), that it's possible ????

Baldric is the same for their 2 soldiers for this moment.....Excuse my english, is not very good...

Hi Sébastien,

For a mid-4th c. soldier your belt (bouclier) is good, but the baldric is 3rd.c. The spatha (épée longue) is also 3rd-c.
Is your belt from Deepeeka?

Quote: Translated with Babelfish: Good, I will do it in French, Valérius, I know that the Cross-belt is of IIIième century (although in my opinion, I can be mistaken, he had still existed!), the change of matériel/époque should not be done of only one blow and surely not everywhere in the same way, the spatha with snap still exists at the beginning (see in the medium of 4th century......). I have, for project, you will see photographs soon, to carry out a légionary of 3rd century, it thus was necessary that I find a compromise between the 2! And this for financial reasons! At Viaromana, we work primarily on the auxiliaries of the 1st c. AD but carry out panoplies of the légionaries of all times including 3rd, 4th and 5th century.... One will improve all that progressively, unless archaeological elements do not come remmettre causes our certainty of them! In all the case very sincerely thank you for your strong remarks by the way, I admire much what Fectio does...

Hi Sébastien,
I understand, no problem! Is there any chance you could join the Herculiani or the Foederati and come to Archeon in July? Big Grin

Valérius, excuse my english, it's very difficult for me to understand an written....

For the belt: it's Jean olivier bourdon,

http://cannesetbatons.free.fr/

Like the shield of Herculiani......

For Archéon, I'am désoled, Damien have to propose to me this event, but I'am with Viaromana in the south of Gauls....

But, Viaromana will be in archéon for ARTE the 3 et 4 Aout 2006 !

Hi Sébastien,

Ah? Jean-Olivier also makes belts? I have one of his shields, I thought he only did things with wood..

To bad you can't join us at Archeon, maybe I can visit you on August 3/4?

wow nice shield!! If I may do a suggestion: the eagle should be darkblue if you're copying the shield pattern directly from the ND ( http://www.ne.jp/asahi/luke/ueda-sarson ... alisI1.jpg ) the eagle looks like it's black, but if you look closer you might see that the eagle has in fact a blue color. But apart from that it's really great!
