Spartan soldiers in the Hellenistic age
#16
Hellenistic Sparta unfortunately was no better than other Greek city states of the time. Corrupt an incompetent rulers were the real reason for the Roman domination.

Sellasia was lost because other Peloponesian reformers understood that Agis and Cleomenes were interested only in Sparta and didn´t give a damn about other Greeks. A sharp contrast to the Spartan leaders of the Archaic and classical era who did or pretend to do the hyperbasis to the "KOINON TON ELLINON" (Greek comonwealth).

Kind regards
