Is this helmet correct?
#1
Hi was looking at a brass helmet and thinking about buying it and was wanting some feedback on how close it is to being correct. Below are some images. Also any idea how much it should be worth?

Salve frater

It doesn't look too bad. Not all roman helmets had all the fansy embossing. Many were plain like this one. The only issue that I can see is that I'm having a tough time identifying the material from which it is made. Obviously a copper alloy, but which?

Avete!

This looks like the older version of Deepeeka's Italic type C, and it has some problems. The cheekpieces are a little off in shape, though I've seen worse. It should not have riveted-on earguards--the edges of the ear cutouts should be flanged outwards instead. The neckguard looks too wide (typical Deepeeka feature), and it should not have the little bosses at the corners.

For my group, I would rule against it if someone were asking if they should buy it. The newer version is more accurate, and should be readily available.
