America doesn't really have its own delicacies...

In the Northeast, we have Yankee potroast, but that's pretty much just meat, poataoes, and carrots cooked in a pot.

Sounds a lot like Dutch stamppot. Which is perhaps not surprising in that area

When I was trying to think of a national delicacy, I kept coming up with foods like gnocchi, stuffed grape leaves, latkes, galumpkes...

Oh, I know! Corn.

There.

"stuffed grape leaves" mentioned in ancient Greek recipes but in modern days we call them dolmadakia.

I was under the impression that fried Green tommatoes were American though

Fried green tomatoes are American. Kalo, Stefanos!

So is fried okra. Now you've jogged my memory about how many fried foods come from here.

Is there any wonder why America is the most obese nation on the planet?

Hmm from what I know by law the portions in the US are bigger than Europe and there is a feeling that you overdo it when you go to the supermarket.

As for me corn oil is my choise if I cannot find olive oil in regards to frying.
