Interesting commentary by Michael Vlahos, who writes on war and strategy at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, comparing events in Iraq to the late Roman empire's military superiority and fallibilities.
Quote:It would be a terrible epitaph for ancient and modern at last to meet -- in the place where Julian led one of Rome`s best-ever armies to defeat -- in Iraq.
Not posted as political comment, just an interesting 5 minute read

Vlahos is an applied physicits? or does he teach history to physicists? He says Julian's amy was one of Rome's best-ever? I am a physicist and say that Julian's army was not one of Rome's best-ever. And Julian made things worse. I fear Vlahos' opinion is as good as mine! By the way it is obvious that his is a political statement.

Thanks for the insight Goffredo. My comment about 'political statement' was referring to myself not making a political statement, btw. I did think it was an interesting commentary though, but not gospel.
And I still can't spot the third error in your sentence :x
