HELLENES (Greeks) & ELLAS Origins
#16
Quote:The girl photographed certainly does not have a typical Asian look or these two children

Ah, that's a common mistake.
I won't argue aginst the Kalash being descendants of Macedonian soldiers or not (they could be, let's find out by DNA reserch), but aginst the mistake that any 'European-looking' folks should be considered on thise grounds alone.
Afhanistan, Pakistan and other parts of Central Asia are a melting pot, cultural as well as linguistic or ethnic. You can find regular chiniod faces in Iran due to a long occupation by the Mongols (and trade links of course), but also caucasian faces that have an ancestry that goes back millennia.
The Kalash have so far not ben identified as especially Greek or not.

And if so, remember that Alexander found many Greeks there, descendant of immigrants from greece who had left centuries earlier. Yes, he killed them all.. Confusedhock:
My point is that, besides the caucasian aboriginals, other immigrants bedsides Alexanders veterans were present in the area. Many of Alaxander's forces by then were persians and other soldiers of non-European descent.
