Salve RAT!
I have one conical varangian style helmet (ca. 800-1100 A.D.) with mail aventail from www.die-ritterschmiede.de which I am very pleased with. It is very well made and the quality/price relation must be the best I have seen anywhere so far. Also the service was excellent. Unfortunately they don`t have a line of roman helmets.
They offer also several spangenhelm-germanic- style helmets with nasal-guards. I am particularly interested in their "spangenhelm um 700". Can anyone give opinions about those helmets, if they have any worth in making a late roman/byzantine impression, ca 400-800?
Ps. I just noticed that my inquiry should have been in a differend thread (re-enactment-reconstruction?), sorry!
Best regards, Virilis Finlandicus, Jyrki Halme
