Och.. why? Cry
After all, easy for you to say, your Berkasovo-type helmet looks 'tough' enough already! Why not add a litle glamour to that poor simple Intercisa type, hmm?

Well I'm torn between the third and fourth ones. But I suppose the fourth
has to be the best, as it makes him look most like a Spartan!

Any chance you can give us an impression of what the Intercisa with a
metal crest would look like with the same crest-box attachment? 8)

Yes, but the smalest the better, maybe a long horse hair hanging from the top...

I like the third from the left. It seems closest to the apparent profile shape of most of the contemporary representations I have seen.

How about soldering something like this onto an Intercisa I :?:

This is a short crest.

Or do they have to be detachable for LR :?:

Well, so far I never saw the evidence for a fixed crest, but also just one helmet withslits for a detachable one.

So why solder it on the helmet? Attach two parallel strips to the crest and make a few slits in the ridge of the helmet. Push the crest in and fold the strips back on the inside of the helmet - I'm positive (after seeing how the fixed metal crest was attached to the 'Guttmann-Intercisa') that this is a perfectly correct way to attach a crest to an Intercis I helmet.

Hi Valerius,

Quote:So why solder it on the helmet?

I thought perhaps it maybe an easier procedure but if there's no evidence for permanent crests then I won't go with a ficticious innovation.

I don't quite understand this procedure. What are "strips" ? And by "slits" do you mean make holes ? What tools do I need ?

Please send a PM if you feel it more appropriate to do so

Thank you, Valerius

By 'strips' I meant strips of metal, prefeably metal you can bend many times without breaking it. Copper, maybe? Just cut some strips measuring say 5 x 2 cm or smaller. Use about six, for 3 slits. You can bend one strip to the right, the other to the left. That should hold the crest secure.
I think this picture will give a better idea than my description:

Yes, by slits I mean make holes, but not round ones of course. Like here:

Tools? Well, I'm not sure, I never actually did it (I will have to though, and soon). They're not big slits, so how about a hammer and a small screwdriver or something to punch a hole?

Great studies. I like 3 and 4. I really want to do this.

Can I get crests to attach? Or do I have to make my own out of horsehair? I'm hoping I can get one 'of the shelf', I'm certain I can secure it well enough.

It's made by Deepeeka, Mitras. Several retailers sell the crests separately. You should have no trouble finding one.
