Hi, I'm sure I saw a copy of Vegetius online about a year ago? Has anybody else seen this ... or did I imagine it?

Be warned. It is Clarke's 18th-century translation and very inaccurate in places.

I did notice various weird interpretations, particularly concerning plumbatae.

Is it that bad?

You can get the Clarke's version, books I, II and III of the latin original, with the "le chevalier de Bongars" version of the books IV and V, corresponding to the book IV of the latin original, both corrected and compared to the original by a latin scholar, here:

strange, a copy of Vegetius just arrived from Amazon today, but I can't for the life of me remember ordering it!! Anyway its fab, with excellent notes that are very well sourced.

Worth it for the notes alone!

Epitome of Military Science (Translated Texts for Historians S.)
Flavius Vegetius Renatus, Vegetius, N.P. Milner (Translator)

Now I know I've ordered a copy of the Strategikon by Mauricius, but that hasn't arrived yet.
