Hi Iulia,
Try removing the HTML tags from the imagecode, I did it for you in the first example.

At least here in the USA you can lay a huge load of blame regarding how acadamia views "reenactment" on well meaning participants of the SCA... 35+ years of "making an attempt" at things medieval with rayon and aluminum.... Most folk in the SCA DO NOT claim to be doing history or call themselves reenactment any more.. used to happen with great regularity for way too many years.... (maybe its the many well known scifi and fantasy authors who either are or were in the SCA!)

.... not to downplay the excellent scholarship and serious history many individuals within the SCA practice and preach.... Dr. J.Hrisoulas is a fine example....

I can not recount the number of times that being affiliated with the SCA has seriously interfered with my attempts to gather knowledge or get the opportunity to have a letter or phone call taken seriously...

Within the SCA the debate is eternally continual......

I have just completed a two day talk/display with the combined classical studies high school students of tennessee, nearly 1000 strong, and all wearing their own Greco Roman costumes. Most of the teachers complimented us and thought it was a great program.

I would agree though that groups like Nova Roma make us all seem like "Kooks" (or even Devil worshippers), with their insistence of worshipping the ancient Roman Gods. And then the SCA/Renaissance fair types have turned the Middle Ages into magical Dungeons and Dragons fantasy world, so it is easy for some academics to not take any "early" period reenactors seriously, though Rev War and Civil War types from eras generally devoid of myth and magic are generally more accepted.
