Any evidence for silver[ed] standard shafts?
#1
I'm trying to scratch-build model figures of some Aquiliferi (starting with Musius of Legio XIIII Gemina). I have read in a recent book on the topic of standards and standard bearers* that "The shaft is often shown as either sheathed in silver metal or silver-painted." I can't recall ever seeing any contemporary representations that show this. I know of no ancient written sources that assert this either. Do any readers of this forum know of any?
