Civilian suppliers in UK
#1
With the mention of the amphora maker in the UK of whom I'd not previously heard, I wanted to ask what other nifty suppliers that aren't on lists over here (like Matt Amt's Legio XX suppliers page: www.larp.com/legioxx/supplrs.html
I am told that you can get some nice glassware at the shop at Chedworth Roman Villa and at Rockbourne Roman Villa.

With regard to the glass, Mark Taylor and David Hill are the guys who make (in my opinion) some of the best Roman glassware. There site is excellent and has plenty of pictures:
For military metal work, jewelry and other items one site I have found is that of a German guy called Holger Ratsdorf. He makes pieces from all periods, and his work is of excellent quality (I have some of his pieces):
Hope this might be of use!
I have several pieces of Taylor and Hill; wonderful stuff those fellows make. They even do commissions; Art Gamon from California, who does a caupona modeled on ours, asked them to make copies of some vials and potions flasks and darned if they didn't do it in a matter of days.

Gil Burroughes is the samian ware maker who only responds to snail mail, darn it. Great stuff too. I only wish I didn't have to pay the extra shipping and currency conversion costs!

Thanks for the glassmaking link, Helena. A character in my novel is an importer of fine glass and that link is very informative.
