Hello,
Does anyone know if there is supporting evidence of particular Hoplite shield devices or colors tied to a city-state? I acknowledge there is some evidence of Spartans wearing crimson cloaks and bearing the Lambda device on their aspis. Though this wasn't until the fourth century. Is there any archaeological or historical evidence suggesting similar colors or devices for other city-states such as Athens?
