Professor Matthew Trundle (1965-2019)
#1
I have just learned of Matthew Trundle's death at the tragically early age of 53 from leukaemia. Very active in the Humanities in New Zealand, he will perhaps be best known to RAT members for his 2004 book on Greek mercenaries.

That is sad news. I had a brief correspondence with him in 2009 when I enquired whether it was possible to obtain a copy of a research essay on Equites Catafracti by one of his students. The attempt was unsuccessful but he was courteous and helpful throughout. It is sobering to think that he was borne four years after I left school.
