Off topic.. be damned

Sure, even if more complicated (190 D-9 different types of boost and different use: you ought to compare it to the Hawker Tempest, its natural enemy, ever red Clostermann's diary?) even if to be right and to talk about the bare designers' skills, we can note that till and beyond the arrive of the jet and rocket fighters (in the summer of '44), the german fighters performances suffered the lack of good (post 1943) materials and fuel plus the low quality of fuel... So strictly comparing the performances is not the only way to define where the best was. Hey! This matter recalls to me the tunic one! . The post '43 average allied pilot could count on abundance of well produced aircraft and very good fuel.
In spite of it and seeing the great amount of personal victories (even if the most of them, in the eatern front) we have to admit that the german pilots knew better how to get the best from their few machines. And that Germans designed and built the prototypes of a lot of ultra modern aircraft, never mass-produced due mainly to factories rivalries and to Hitler's stupidity. Russians and Americans used those projects to make their air-power in the following 40 years.

Anyway I also like a lot the Spit XIV, especially the nose - engine - 5 bladed prop section. Its RR Griffon engine suits it better than Merlin, so, it's really a beauty of plane. And as you know, the fine planes fly always well!
Wow, I go away for a few days and the neato topics start! Cool. I only have CFS1, I did buy FS 2004 this last summer and it rocks, but I guess I need to break down and buy CFS3.

I prefer a Gustav! Anyway, if I REALLY had my drothers, it'd be WWI and I'd have a beautiful Fokker DVII!!!
WWI? Great dogfights, but too slow for me...

Before buying CFS3, get a Il-2 Sturmovik demo and try it (about 40 Mb), it will give you the Forgotten Battle (the Il-2 Sturmovik, western front variant) feeling of quality: hey, what you see on the screen is unbelievable! CFS3 is an old fart (ooops, pardon, that's vulgar! ), if you compare them...
I have been reading about Forgotten Battle, do you need to buy Il-2 first? And it's that much better than CFS3? But it seems most of the good, downlaodable planes are written for CFS3... and I DO want to try the nukes w/ my A-3 Skywarrior... ;-)
CFS3: bad renderings in my opinion: all looks so "fake" , no smoke along the tracers, bad sky and clouds, bad ground and trees, but you can download a lot of stuff and use it.

Forgotten Battle: like a movie renderings, fantastically detalied planes and more accurate in reality. Boy, when you fly you ARE in the sky! Great vapour rails and plane damages.
You cannot download anything but skins for planes and missions from normal sites, improvement patches freely issued by the "factory" on the official site. Those patches improve regularly the game, with general improvements, new planes and stuff. Anyone can develop a new plane, but cannot simply upload it for downloading: ha has to send it to the factory where the plane will be checked and the bugs deleted.
So the "certified" planes will be added all together to the next patch.
One thing, the previous patches have already supplied ALL the planes you need for a serious combat over the skies of Europe, so the game is already great. You can built any mission or campaign by the internal mission builder.
There is a Pacific theatre too.

You don't need of Il-2 Sturmovik.
