Baa, baa - Roman sheep

Going from dogs to sheep, does anyone have any references to what kind of sheep the Romans would have raised? Not all wool is created equal and each type produces a different type of yarn. Since I'm learning to spin yarn (putting the "drop" in "drop spindle" <p></p><i></i>

Oh excellent! Good to know that the Romans were sensible and bred longer fleeced sheep. The longer fibers are much easier to spin than the short ones. I'll have to find some Cotswold roving and try it out. I've already got some Leicester fleece that needs to be carded/combed and prepped for spinning, but that's another subject entirely....<br>
