Hi guys.
Read that roman lead sling shots have been found with small loops interpreted to be where two shots could be tied together. The slinger would have a reduced range but the two lead missiles tied together like a bolas would be could be more effective if aiming accurately was a luxury.
Have any of you seen lead sling shot with such loops or holes?
Avete!
Um, something that is shaped like a sling bullet but has a loop for a string sounds an AWFUL lot like a fishing weight, to me! The whole idea sounds unworkable and very unnecessary, as well. If these things have actually been found, properly stratified and dated (not just turning up on a dealer's table), I'd still be tempted to interpret them as ROMAN fishing weights!

Slings are accurate and deadly. Tying two together would make them harder to throw, and would probably give less range, accuracy, and penetration. BUT if there is solid information, I'm certainly willing to change my tune!
Sinkers....tee-hee-hee. Sorry goffredo, but Matt's interpretation sounds a little more reasonable. However, if you are ever out fishing, and are attacked by barbarians, now you will know how to make a set of sling bullets from your fishing tackle!

I guys.
I'll try to pinpoint the article I read. In the mean time I was navigating looking for stuff on slingshot and came across the following article on Neolithic Warfare by Ferril.
