Deepeeka gladii used in the Ashura celebration-Pakistan!
#1
Just seen on TV news: a lot of Ashura bloodied marchers beat themselves with Mainz gladii (they look like from Deepeeka)!!!!

What a cultural shock! ,

I've not found photos about it, anyone?
Salve Aquilie
It may be the "Qama", a big knife, I think from persian origin, that has the same blade as a Fulham gladius.
In the Legio XX website you can find a tutorial on how to
buy one of those from Atlanta Cutlery and convert it in a gladius for less than 50$.
Hey guys, those I saw in that news report WERE Mainz gladii from Deepeka, surely not Qama/Kndjal swords! I know that Deepeeka gladius very well, and the TV ones had its classic gladii pommel, the segmented bone grip, the typical hilt with the brass element around the blade, the typical Mainz blade...(while the Qama one looks more as a Pompeii, excepting the point), they were so...! That was the surprise!
Can you remember what news report it was? Maybe they still have some footage on their website?
Surely a big one, CNN, BBC or maybe one of the Euronews no-comment spots. I looked at it just for a glance while talking about work with other three people, so I did pay not so much attention the TV company, but to the gladii, in that bunch of bloodied people, at least four guys in foreground beated their heads with gladii and the others with Qamas and other swords/knives...
