Bronze sword
#1
Some time ago I came across opinion that refferd to some literary sources about bronze swords used by romans.

It's no secret that bronze is superior to iron and to some extent also to early forms of steel.
According to this I have read that some officers in roman army preffered bronze weapon over iron.

But here is the point. I don't know what were the sources for this statement and I cannot find it anymore.

So here is the question.

How much truth is in it?
Did romans really used bronze sword? Not saying about mass produced swords for army from iron, but some officers who could afford for a bronze one?

Or maybe some "parade" weapon?

As far as I know, the only Romans who used bronze blades were a handful of priests (such as the Flamen Dialis) who were not permitted to touch iron and stage actors who were portraying scenes from Homer.
