LRE Army OB Help
#1
Besides the many Notitia D. sites, can anyone recommend
any good sites for provincial garrison orders of battle
in the post-constatine era? Thanks & regards from Suebiia!

The number of other sources that can help in establishing the order of battle in the provincial armies are limited. Much of the information about the make-up of garrisons in earlier times is derived from the unit lists recorded on military diploma's and these were no longer issued in the post-Constantinian era. Other epigraphic evidence is rather scarce in comparison with preceding centuries. Papyri give somewhat more details on late Roman units, but that is mainly limited to Egypt. Literary sources as for instance the history by Ammianus Marcellinus contain a few references, but never an exhaustive overview of a provincial garrison.
One method of finding relevant inscriptions is using a search tool like this one and using search strings with late Roman military ranks, unit titles etc, cutting off the case endings in order to maximise the number of returned texts.
