Part of the fabric was dyed with natural pigments like my tunic and madder-dyed legwraps (the fabric was bought from Jorg Fraske), rest was chosen to emulate naturally dyed cloth (the sagum blue would be close to a deep woad dye and the braccae to an oak gall dye). The shield was painted with caseine (milk protein) paint and natural pigments (copper oxyde, ocre, carbon...).
