OK, this was a shot taken at a non-profit event Legio VI did recently, and wasn't actually meant to be cannon, but it shows some of our recent progress to date:

This uniform attempts to replicate the look of the Roman legionary from the end of the Hadrianic period on. The Imperial Gallic helmets have been retro-fitted with cross-braces, the new calcae boots (one pattern, at least) are worn, the cingulum apron straps are shorter than the 1st Cent. variety (often, when soldiers are shown wearing pteruges, there's actually no apron sraps worn at all). The armor is the new Stillfried variant of the Newstead pattern, which debutted circa 140 AD. I'm on the left, Diogenes (aka, Dr. Arik Greenberg) is on the right.

Future projects include slide sword scabbards, ring-pommel swords, and open-work belt plates and cingulum strap fittings.

Valete,
Darius
