Scholarly papers on leather Hellenic body armor?
So where is your evidence of Greek linen armour during Homer's time?

Perhaps the posts on linen can be moved to another thread. This thread is about Greek leather armour, not linen armour. FWIW Homer never mentions leather armour at all in his text. There are some animal pelts being worn as status symbols and a couple of leather helmets but no armour.

The Iliad. I gave the reference earlier, with the caveat that it depends on what time period you assign to the world that he describes in his poems. (Which then led to the digression that I was trying to avoid before being, of course, sucked into it anyway.) If you want something near-contemporary, I also gave a reference to the fragment by Alcaeus from Mytilene (ca. 600 or a little later BC).

Edit: and I also gave a reference to a scholarly article on continuity in the use of linen textiles from the BA to the historical period.
