local archeologist have fuse "a proper bomb", tracking down the place of one of the deceisive battles of the "Year of 4 Emperors" (70 AD)
at Trier-Riol. It was there when Vespasians General Cerialis with his 8 Legions stomped out the uprising of the Treverians under Julius Civilis , a defected Roman officer of treverian descent. As with many comparable cases, the "attention" of the "official" archeologists has very much been spurred by rising numbers of private finds. Therefore, Dr. Axel von Berg, archeologist in Charge, remains sceptic whether the number and stature of finds there will approach the importance of comparable battlesites like Kalkriese or Harzhorn.
The director of the Landesmuseum Dr. Marcus Reute is cited having said that "It would have been nice if we had been there in the 80s".
What has been found now and what was recovered from private sourvces however, tightly fits the "time horizon" of 70 AD.
