Roman Military Might in South Carolina
#1
Do we have any South Carolina locals likely to visit this: Roman Military Might and Machines at the SCSM (26 Sept 2015)?

The photo of the siege tower looks distinctly dodgy. Hopefully everything else will be fine.

My Legion was at the opening this past weekend and will be back there on the 5th.

Yeah... dodgy is an understatement. We walked in and the museum guys were like "well **** these guys are better than our display."

By a long shot...

I just realized it's probably the one from the Museo della Civiltà Romana in Rome (which has been closed all year, I think).

Their 1:10 scale siege tower apparently "closely follows the description from De Re Militari of Vegetius".

See Osprey's Greek and Roman Siege Machinery (2003), p. 31 Plate F (also on back cover) for a more realistic attempt (imho).
