About the pectoraris...
#1
Only found two threads concerning the pectoraris, but these went nowhere...

Has anyone reconstructed one and if so, does it have a protective function? D'Amato in Roman Military Clothing 3, says it's protective, but in The Eastern Romans, referred to as saraka, is merely costume imitating armor and worn by guardsmen. Could it have been worn on top of armor, like hamata or squamata or underneath? Any remains found or art depicting the pectoraris? Would all versions have tablia and orbiculi, like in the reconstruction?
