Mapping Forts along the frontier
#1
Ave Civitas,

I am interested in locating Roman frontier installations.
I have "Handbook to Roman Legionary Fortresses, but I would like to know about the border forts and fortlets also.
I found
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borders_of...man_Empire
which lists and has maps (love maps) of most of the frontier, but nothing about the lower Danube defenses.

Is there a reference someone can point me to?

JJ Wilkes has a paper "The Roman Danube: An Archaeological Survey" which might be of some assistance. I am sure it is available at Scribd or Jstor. Confusedmile:
