Not your average wooden post -- definitely !

....News popped up that they've dug out (even more of the) remains of a rather monumental building at Günzburg/Danube in the so-called "Lutz Area".
To give an Impression of what the dimensions of simple wooden remains are:
http://historischer-verein-guenzburg.de/...guenzburg/
(You don't want them to be dropped on your feet ....really !) ....and ...
http://www.augsburger-allgemeine.de/guen...88792.html
Found have been about 120 wooden foundations posts of ca. 200 kg each, laid out evenly on a ground-plan of about 100 x 50 m.
Dendrochrono has it that the felling-date of the trees used for that is 111 AD exactly.
Günzburg had been garrisoned with a camp at Günzburg, near todays main cemetery, from about 77/78 AD.
At the time of errection of that building had been demilitarised for quite a while, the troops having been transferred to Heidenheim and later to Aalen.
The size and the lack of accomanying other finds and findings leave it up to speculation whether this has been a Military or civilian building. (Or both...)
It could well have been a forum or military storages. (At first, in 2013, it seemed to be a clear case in favour of a Forum or a Basilica )
