Hello All
I am fairly new to this site and did search for this information so I apologize if this is redundant.
Did the "combat medics" of the legion carry any device or wear anything to distinguish them as medics?

The only thing i heard of as they were capasari carrying a capsa (case) with bandages. But they would fight just as every miles.
So for after the battle it came in handy.

Adding to LVCIVS mention of the Capasari, the Medici had the rank of Centurian and pay. It would be hard to say if they would walk around as Centurians but as with the Beneficiarii and other offical bodys that wore a emblem of office, I would like to think the rod and snake of Aescvlapius ethier on the baldric or as a brooch but there is no evidence for this

Could someone post a link to a source about the capsa? I want to make one. It would be a nice addition to my Roman medical collection.
Thanks,
Marcus

Yes but these were used to hold papyri rolls...for bandages I could imagine a regular leather-cloth bag.
