Ok, i found this, it's in Greek:

My knowledge of ancient greek it's prety limitated, but, if i understand properly, synaspismos was formed simply by closing ranks and files, without doubling or dividing ranks, as instead is showed in the picture i posted...right?

It could be achieved in a number of ways. Some of them included insertion of files, others the closing in of the existing files. It depends on whether you want to shorten your frontage or not.

Reading Arrian, -even the battle order aganist Alanos- it seems that it was simply achieved by closing ranks and files...i think i will open a specific thread to discuss all possible deployment of a roman formation: i'm very interested in this because this argoument must be related to maniple's relief system.
