I'm doing some work on pre conquest Roman influence in Britain- and seem to remember a Fisbourne find- but cannot remember what it was. Any ideas?
Plus all other evidence for a Roman influence pre the Claudan conquest gratefully received!

Blimey! I remember both Colchester and Cirencester museums having evidence of pre-Conquest artefacts. Whether it was just coinage, I cannot quite remember...possibly iron bars, too. (Odd enough to stick in my memory).
I am sure someone else will be more helpful!

St Albans springs to mind - Roman military equipment from a high-status burial at Folly Lane.
I think it's described in The Excavation of a Ceremonial Site at Folly Lane, Verulamium, Rosalind Niblett, SPRS, 1999

There is also a possibility that the Hallaton Helmet could have been a pre-Invasion gift rather than post; depends on the interpretation of the site. But if it was it travelled a fair way outside of Kent/Hampshire and the geography of it tends to make me prefer post invasion..
