hexagon auxiliary shields

does anyone know how common hexagonal shields were among the auxiliary infantry? I have seen a few depictions of them in ac cavalry context, cant remember where though <p></p><i></i>

Only book that I have that mentions it is Warry's "Warfare in the Classical World" and it refers to it only as a cav shield. Quote from p.163<br>

"3. is a hexagonal type, commonly associated with Germany in the latter half of the 1st century AD. The scorpion design is one shwon on a Trajanic monument and may be that of the equites singulares, a German unit of guard cavalry."<br>

Here's a site that mentions a pair of them (as infantry shields) on a Roman dog tag (????) Seems to be a pet accessory supplier so I'd beware this one.<br>
