The Spacing Between Balteus Apron Straps?
#1
I am making my own balteus with the Herculanem/Tejke bell type terminal (see link below for which terminal I'm referring to if unfamiliar). Referencing MC Bishop's "Early Imperial Apron" from JRMES, according to figures 5, 26, 33 and 39 a slight gap between apron straps was not unheard of for non-"tear-drop" baltii terminals? Has anyone else put a small gap between their apron straps? Or has this been primarily unnoticed? Thanks

Matt.
The second link you have given only shows the ferry terminal at Naples nothing to do with a belt.

Hi Matt,
I don't really think that Terminal Ends would depict the gap between apron straps. Keep the straps only a mill. or 2 apart. The "danglies" will look after themselves. The "apron", In my opinion, was the important thing, keep it looking good and universal. Most gravestones show a very universally "compact" apron. The terminal ends were so different from location to location, Legion to Legion....etc. If they overlap, one gets a wonderful clanking/chinking sound when marching.
Just my thoughts.
