Texas Renaissance Fair

The Texas Ren. Fair Roman Bacchanal is coming up next month and I'm looking to attend (not participate). Do any members of RAT have any information about what to expect? Anyone participating?

The Texas Ren Rair is the largest and most well attended ren fair in North America. It has had up to 650,000 visitors in an 8 weekend season. With that said this ren fair has a wide variety of people in costume. It has really turned in to an out door con with people cos-playing everything from star trek to dr. who to Japanese comic books you have never heard of.

The fair doesn't' really do anything Roman outside of a competitive eating contest and wine tasting. Each year the Ren fair gives Legion XIII and Legion X free admission for everyone in kit and who is willing to march in the parade. If you are looking for a Roman experience you should show up Saturday morning and find our camp. We will have a period camp with period food. We will form up and do some drills. Around noon we will march in the Ren Fair parade which takes about 20 minutes. After the parade we get together for a party at a pub on site and then go our own way until the feast that evening. We get up and do all of that once more before calling it a weekend.
