I'm looking to wrap my newest scutum in leather but im not sure which place and what type of leather to get. I would greatly appreciate if someone could point in the right direction.

Hi Mike, where are you located?

Matt Amt's Legio XX suppliers page lists a lot of suppliers, plus, the site talks about leather for both the facing and the cover.

I went to a saddler's local to me. They were able to buy entire cow hides - and would have sold me one, but they also agreed to make the shield cover for me. I couldn't turn down such a kind offer, naturally. So you could try the same, wherever you are...

Tandy and also Crazy Crow are easy sources in the U.S.

Legio XX as of now is saying that "A thin facing of rawhide (goat, for example) is probably the most accurate facing." Off the top of my head I'm not sure whether either Tandy or Crazy Crow sell goat, but Tandy sells unbleached cow rawhide and Crazy Crow sells natural deer and bison.

I think a single bend would probably be too small for a scutum.
