Bone grip colour

Hi folks,<br>

I made a bone grip for my gladius and I expected it to be white, since the bone I made it from was white.<br>
But now it is finished, it has yellow, brownish areas.<br>
It looks good with these colours, but since most I have seen are white, I have to ask: did I do something wrong? Or is it just the bones colour?<br>

I agree. Bone is similar to wood in that it has its own unique colors, grains, etc, and combined with all of the elements before mentioned, no two pieces of bone will ever be exactly the same. The heat from the friction of power tools can discolor bone and other substances. There's a good page of information here:<br>

So if you were using a power sander or Dremel tool, that might have caused it. (Unless it's clearly color variations in the grain, not just on the worked surfaces.)<br>

I do bone grips all with rasp, file, and hand sanding these days. Makes a heck of a lot less stink and dust, and doesn't take all that long. Easier to control, too.<br>
