After a long drought of 24 years, in which I almost lost hope, I am happy that Germany won the World Cup again! :woot:

The finale was evenly-matched, even more than I expected. I was dreading the prospect of the penalty lottery, but fortunately Götze suddenly came out of nowhere and scored this magnificent goal.

There is a vote FIFA for the best goal of the tournament. My top five are, in no particular order:

A. Götze (Germany 1:0 Argentina)
B. James (Colombia 1:0 Uruguay)
C. James Rodríguez (Japan 1:4 Colombia)
D. Van Persie (Spain 1:1 Netherlands)
E. Shaqiri (Honduras 0:1 Switzerland)

I was hoping for a Germany v Netherlands final so all in all was pleased Germany won.

Van Persie's goal was outstanding. The German goalkeeper Neuer should have won player of the tournament in my opinion. Mascherano was the best Argentinian player by far.

I mean winning the World Cup. Germany won the 1996 Euro Cup, to be precise.

Arjen Robben had a nice one too. But the best has to be Rodriguez or Van Persie.
Too bad Van Persie fizzled out after that game. He was invisible for a lot of the tournament.

Schürrle's first goal (against Algeria) was very skillful, though not as beautiful as James' best goal.
