Essential items for civilian exhibit.
#1
Hello all,
For the past year and a half I have been collecting mostly Roman military items for a static Roman exhibit. Along the way I have started collecting civilian items to broaden the scope of my exhibit. I am starting this thread in hopes of creating a resource for people who want to have a comprehensive collection. I realize this is broad and one can not hope to have everything, but what would you consider to be core items for any good collection of Roman civilian items. I will start it off by including some things I have in my collection so far.

Offering bowl/phiale
Wine ladle/strainer
Lararium
Male tunic
Soloae sandals
shears
Roman spoon
Oil lamp
Cup
Bowls
Plates
Cosmetics applicator
strigil
oil bottle
Hygiene set
Game boards
Game counters

Every Roman family had a libation bowl or what the Greeks called a "phiale" to perform their prayer rituals. A simple shallow bowl won't do unless it has a bump in the middle.

Also, a wine ladle and strainer would be an essential object in every Roman house.

I am still in need of drummers, a parasol bearer, a flag bearer, Turkish / Hephthalite bodyguards, and a handful of other servants and musicians.

A few groups depict civilian life in the context of a structure like a tavern or shop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=UUw8J...nd91BlpM2Q
