Hi All.
Regarding my last post on Waddon Hill, would anyone have info beyond Wikipedia, on this site. I know a good section of Scale armour was found, now sitting in Taunton Museum, but beyond that I know nothing.
Along with the Waddon Hill Thread these are both very important to know where II AVG were located, ie Vexilations, As is now known II AVG were spread thinly, but evidence suggests that where they where based, the occupation continued for some time.
We know not weather these were Auxiliaries or Legionaries in most cases.
The recent large scale excavations of cemeteries found at Ham Hill may suggest a tad more resistance than otherwise thought. I have recently learnt of a rather large "mass" of scale armour found at Ham Hill....defiantly not Iron Age.
II AVG or its Auxiliaries fought there. Its not in the history books, but it happened.
Pointers toward any artefacts/digs would be greatly appreciated.
Kevin
