Fullered Spatha
#1
Note to self: never lend out your Miks!!

May I ask if anyone could enlighten me on the archaeological evidence for the FIRST appearance of this type or weapon, please? If so, was it cavalry or infantry context?

Thank you in advance.

EDIT: Perhaps spatha "type" should be the better term as the only one I can recall is the one which looks more like an elongated gladius and was 3rd C. Google tells me it is the Lauriacum-Hromowka but is this the first evidence?
Moi Watson

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Merlot in one hand, Cigar in the other; body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO, what a ride!

There are fullered Spatha blades going back to Republican Era I think. Let me check, if I recall they were usually Double or triple fullered.
